Lightning Entertainment Shifts Gear Into The Production Arena

Robert Beaumont

Signaling a profound shift in the company's development, Lightning Entertainment is entering into the feature film production arena.

Robert Beaumont, President of the sales and distribution company, said, "It's the logical next step in our company's development and progress to actively produce our own feature films and control our supply line of top quality titles for the worldwide marketplace. We aim to deliver films that the buyers need to fulfill their own release goals and we could not be happier to be sharing in that risk and reward."

First on the company's production slate is the action film Dead Drop starring Luke Goss, Cole Hauser and Nestor Carbonell. The film is written by Ben Budd and directed by R. Ellis Frazier who also produces alongside Jacov Bresler and Justin Nesbitt.

Currently in post-production, Lightning is handling international rights to the film, with Mathilde Epstein and Alexandra Cocean, the company's VPs of International Sales, introducing the title to buyers at AFM.

In addition to Dead Drop, Lightning's slate also includes the documentary How To Make Money Selling Drugs, and the comedy The Hot Flashes starring Brooke Shields, Daryl Hannah, Virginia Madsen, Camryn Manheim and Wanda Sykes that will premiere for buyers at the market.
