Efficient Infrastructure Combined With Quality
Content Is the Focus Of Starz Digital Division

Gene George

Question:
The digital revolution of filmed entertainment for the Big and Small screen has impacted the industry to a degree that was impossible to contemplate. Specifically the various forms of VOD and transmedia is transforming how we sell and buy content. Each Company operates from different perspective, can Starz share with the us its views and how the company has adapted to and taken advantage of the new paradigm.

Answer:
At Starz, we have been extremely focused on the importance and value of new media. We are actually one of the few major independents that maintain our own Digital division, which is based in New York, specifically focusing in this area. The growth in the digital world has greatly impacted everyone's business plans and for companies with an established and efficient infrastructure with quality content like Starz, this is a dream development. Although managing all these windows, rights categories and new and emerging platforms has made our business more challenging and complicated, the increased demand and consumption of our content through all platforms (traditional and digital), greatly enhances our business. Starz is increasing its investment and commitment to producing and distributing high quality, cinematic content, so this area is one which will continue to become an important part of our worldwide distribution business.
