A Heady Mix Of Sophisticated Glamour
& Mystic Culture Of Martial Arts Heralds
The Opening Of Berlin's 63rd Berlinale

The Berlin International Film Festival opens tonight amid a heady mix of Sophisticated Glamour and the Mystic Culture of the Martial Arts at 7.30 pm.

Following a few words of greeting from Minister of State for Cultural and Media Affairs Bernd Neumann and Governing Mayor of Berlin Klaus Wowereit, the Festival will officially be opened by Jury President Wong Kar Wai (Hong Kong, China) and Berlinale Director Dieter Kosslick.

The International Jury - whose other members are Susanne Bier (Denmark), Andreas Dresen (Germany), Ellen Kuras (USA), Shirin Neshat (Iran), Tim Robbins (USA) and Athina Rachel Tsangari (Greece) – will be introduced during the Gala.

The ever-popular Anke Engelke will again be the host of the evening. This year's music will be provided by Ulrich Tukur Die Rhythmus Boys, with 3sat broadcasting the opening event live.

Following the gala, Wong Kar Wai's epic martial-arts drama The Grandmaster will have its international premiere, with the director and his leading actors, Tony Leung and Ziyi Zhang, personally presenting the film to the audience in the Berlinale Palast.

The members of the International Jury, the International Short Film Jury and the Best First Feature Award Jury are all expected on the Red Carpet. The 63rd Berlin International Film Festival will close on February 17, 2013. The Award Ceremony will be held on February 16, 2013.
