Exclusive Media Closes Multi Territory Deals On
Parkland Prior To Berlin JFK Thriller Set To
Release November To Coincide With 50th Anniversary

Joe Ricketts - The American Film Company

Alex Walton, President of International at Exclusive Media, announced that prior to attending the Berlin International Film Festival and the EFM, the company has closed a number of international sales including a multi-territory deal with Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions (SPWA) for the thriller Parkland.

Exclusive Media has licensed all rights to SPWA for Eastern Europe, Scandinavia, Iceland, Greece, Turkey, and Latin America. In addition, Australia and New Zealand are sold to Roadshow, France to Metropolitan, Italy to RAI, Israel to United King, Hong Kong to Golden Harvest, India and Pakistan to Tanweer, Indonesia to PT Amero, The Philippines to Captive, Singapore to Golden Village, Taiwan to Catchplay, Thailand to M Pictures, and The Baltic States to ACME.

This deals follows on the heels of the recent announcement that The American Film Company headed by Joe Ricketts had come on board as co-financiers. Parkland is produced by Playtone partners Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman, as well as Exclusive Media and The American Film Company, which has co-financed with Exclusive. The adapted screenplay of Parkland is written by award-winning journalist and novelist Peter Landesman, who makes his directorial debut on Parkland. Bill Paxton is also a Producer on Parkland.

Currently shooting on location in Austin, Texas, Parkland is set to tie in with the 50th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy with a domestic release in the Fall of 2013

The film stars Zac Efron, Oscar winner Marcia Gay Harden, Jeremy Strong), Oscar winner Billy Bob Thornton, Oscar nominee Jacki Weaver and Oscar nominated Paul Giamatti.

The multi-territory deal was negotiated by Walton on behalf of Exclusive and Michael Helfand, EVP Business Affairs, Joe Matukewicz, SVP of Acquisitions, and Jon Freedberg, VP of Business Development on behalf of SPWA.

On finalizing the sales, Walton said, "Our distribution partners on Parkland are all first class and we are working together in planning a worldwide release strategy to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the assassination of JFK which takes place this November."

Based on the book Reclaiming History: The Assassination of John F. Kennedy by Vincent Bugliosi, the adapted screenplay of PARKLAND is written by award-winning journalist and novelist Peter Landesman, who is making his directorial debut. PARKLAND recounts the chaotic events that occurred at Parkland Hospital in Dallas on the day President John F. Kennedy was assassinated, November 22nd 1963. Part thriller, part real-time drama, PARKLAND is the ferocious, heart-stopping story of unexceptional people fighting for survival and reaching for heroism in an exceptional time.
