Wes Anderson’s Animated Feature Isle Of Dogs

 
Isle of Dogs /Competition 2018 /USA 2018/ Director: Wes Anderson The Minister of State and Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media Prof. Monika Grütters, the Mayor of Berlin Michael Muller, Jury President Tom Tykwer and Festival Director Dieter Kosslick open the 67th Berlin International Film Festival tonight at the Berlinale Palast at 7.30 pm. The 68th Berlin International Film Festival opens with the world premiere of Wes Anderson’s animated feature Isle of Dogs. The films tells the story of Atari Kobayashi, 12-year-old ward to corrupt Mayor Kobayashi. When, by Executive Decree, all the canine pets of Megasaki City are exiled to a vast garbage-dump, Atari sets off alone in a miniature Junior-Turbo Prop and flies to Trash Island in search of his bodyguard-dog, Spots. There, with the assistance of a pack of newly-found mongrel friends, he begins an epic journey that will decide the fate and future of the entire Prefecture. The voice cast includes Bryan Cranston, Koyu Rankin, Edward Norton, Liev Schreiber, Bill Murray, Bob Balaban, Jeff Goldblum, Scarlett Johansson, Kunichi Nomura, Tilda Swinton, Ken Watanabe, Akira Ito, Greta Gerwig, Akira Takayama, Frances McDormand, F. Murray Abraham, Courtney B. Vance, Yojiro Noda, Fisher Stevens, Mari Natsuki, Nijiro Murakami, Yoko Ono, Harvey Keitel and Frank Wood. Produced by Scott Rudin, Steven Rales and Jeremy Dawson who also produced Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel, Isle of Dogs, was produced by Indian Paintbrush and filmed at 3 Mills Studios in London. Christoph Fisser, Henning Molfenter and Charlie Woebcken of Studio Babelsberg serve as executive producers. Fox Searchlight Pictures will distribute the film worldwide in partnership with Indian Paintbrush. Isle of Dogs releases in US cinemas on March 23, 2018, and internationally April 2018.

Shooting Star Alba August - Sweden
 
The 2018 Swedish Shooting Star Alba August (pictured above) stars in Becoming Astrid which has its world premiere in the Berlinale Special sidebar. European Shooting Stars and Producers On The Move are presenting 27 films at the 68th Berlin International Film Festival. The group of acting talents is led by this year's Shooting Star Franz Rogowski from Germany, who plays the lead in Transit and In The Aisles - both in the Official Competition – and they are joined by 13 former Shooting Stars, including Alba Rohrwacher, Daniel Brühl and Mateusz Kósciukiewicz, who all appear in films screening in the Official Competition.
A number of former Producers on the Move have productions in Berlin vying for the attention of juries and audiences alike: Undine Filter from Germany co-produced 3 Days In Quiberon and In The Aisles - both in the Official Competition. Meanwhile, Dan Wechsler from Switzerland was the associate producer on The Omission (Panorama) and co-produced Daughter Of Mine (Competition) with the Italian producer Marta Donzelli, who also produced the documentary Lorello E Brunello (Culinary Cinema). Rounding off the group is Ingmar Trost from Germany, who co-produced The Bed and Theatre Of War, both world premieres in the Forum section.
