Amal ElWardi Heads Acquisitions & Development As
The Solution Entertainment Group Builds On Success

The Solution Entertainment Group headed by co-founders and partners Lisa Wilson and Myles Nestel are at Cannes with a number of new projects. Post Berlin the company entered into its strategically engineered phase of production, financing and international distribution development with the hiring of Amal ElWardi as Head of Acquisitions and Development.

Commenting on the planned move, Lisa Wilson and Myles Nestel said, "We have enjoyed a year of unprecedented growth since we launched The Solution in January 2012. As we enter our second year as a film financier, international sales company and provider of production and post-production facilities, our aim is to build on our successes and bring our slate of commercially driven projects to the next level. Amal is an expert in her field and her access to material and filmmakers has proved to be truly exciting."

Reporting to partners Wilson and Nestel, Amal ElWardi's role for the group encompasses acquisitions of third party titles for international distribution, as well as projects to produce and finance, which includes The Solution and its genre production and sales label Synchronicity Entertainment.

Amal ElWardi has worked extensively with motion picture producers in matching directors and actors to a number of projects. ElWardi joined The Solution from her position as Head of Acquisitions at IM Global, where she worked since the company's launch in 2007. Over the course of her tenure at IM Global, ElWardi brought many high-profile films to their theatrical slate, including Academy Award nominee Lee Daniels' The Butler starring Forest Whitaker, Oprah Winfrey, Robin Williams, Jane Fonda, Terrence Howard and John Cusack to be released by The Weinstein Company; FilmDistrict's soon to be released action thriller Dead Man Down starring Colin Farrell and Noomi Rapace; Richard Linklater's Before Midnight which screened at Berlin 2013 and stars Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy; Dimension Films' Angry Little God, on which she is also an Associate Producer, starring Ron Perlman and Mark Webber; and including Robert Luketic's Paranoia & Scott Derrickson's When Gravity Falls. ElWardi has attended all the major theatrical markets and festivals worldwide, coordinated sales and operations, assisted in bank financings and loan closings, and overseen the company's acquisitions activity. ElWardi started her career at First Look International and FilmBank Capital where she conducted research for financial structuring and valuation analysis for single picture and film slate financing with Castle Rock Entertainment and Warner Brothers Studios. Currently, ElWardi is an advisory board member for the Arab American 1001 Media Fund, and has spoken on several industry panels, including most recently the Blackhouse panel at TIFF 2012.
