Tale Of A Forest Simplicity Captivates
Audiences & Breaks Box Office Records In Finland

Tale Of A Forest
As the documentary feature becomes a mainstay for audiences around the world on the big and small screens, Tale Of A Forest, which broke records at the box office in Finland, debuts for international audiences through sales agent Level K at Cannes.

A documentary for the whole family, Tale of a Forest shot in Finland is a beautifully shot and visually sweeping look at the rich collection of fauna and flora and the obstacles they must overcome as the seasons change in the spectacular forests of Northern Finland which is home. The film's main characters are the various inhabitants of the forest itself: The Bears, The Elks, The Snakes, The Owls, The Ants, The Frogs, The Flying Squirrels, plus the ancient soul birds such as The Siberian Jay, The Lapland Owl and many, many other Creatures of The Wild.

Producer Marko Rohr commented, "The primal, old-growth forests have almost vanished during the past 50 years. Still over 30% of these remaining original forests in Europe can be found in Finland. The thousand-year life cycle of the old forests is divided into four seasons. Our cinematographers have followed this unique and beautiful nature for decades and they used over five years to shoot this film. During the shoot they lived as part of the forest's annual cycle, as part of nature. Making a movie entirely on Nature's terms is very difficult, but rewarding. Authenticity is one of the reasons for the record-breaking success of Tale of a Forest. Its simplicity and beauty have received rave critiques and drawn masses to cinemas. The spectators have enjoyed the gentle rhythm on the unique nature and the story told via old myths and beliefs of the Northern Forests."

Tale of a Forest is written and directed by Ville Suhonen and Kim Saarniluoto, and produced by Marko Rohr for MRP Matila Rohr Productions. Composer Panu Aaltio received the prestigious International Film Music Critics Association Award for Best Documentary Score in 2012. The documentary feature debuted in Finland to nationwide critical acclaim.

Tale of a Forest is supported by the Finnish Film Foundation and the South Karelia Regional Fund. Internationals Sales by Level K.
