The Moon And The Sun Glows
& Shines At Good Universe

Pierce Brosnan as King Louis XIV in The Moon and the Sun
Good Universe is handling international sales on The Moon and The Sun, an adult fable based on Vonda McIntyre's Nebula Award-winning novel, which has entered the second phase of its shoot in Melbourne, Australia, following several weeks filming on location at Versailles in France.

The Moon and The Sun is directed by Sean McNamara and produced by Bill Mechanic, James Pang, Wei Han, and Paul Currie. Bill Mechanic says: "We have assembled a stellar cast and some of the best artistic and technical talent in the world to bring this book to life. The Moon and The Sun will hopefully create a lasting, iconic image of mermaids, now and forever."

With a stellar cast led by Pierce Brosnan as Louis XIV, The Sun King, the film also stars Academy Award winner William Hurt, Benjamin Walker, Kaya Scodelario, Ben Lloyd-Hughes, Pablo Schreiber and features Chinese superstar Fan Bingbing as the mermaid.

The film tells the tale of Louis XIV whose quest for immortality leads him to capture a mermaid in order to steal her life force. At the same time, the monarch's illegitimate daughter, Marie-Josephe, is brought to court in order to pay off war debts. Complications arise when Marie-Josephe forms bonds with not only the mysterious mermaid but also the handsome sailor who was her captor.

The film with its lavish production settings showcases some of Australia's premier artistic talent including Oscar-winning costume designer Lizzy Gardiner, production designer Michelle McGahey, and Oscar-nominated editor John Gilbert, with VFX work by Jamy Wheless and John Helms.

Independently financed, The Moon and The Sun is presented by Mechanic's Pandemonium Films and Cosmos Filmed Entertainment in conjunction with Bliss Media, Lightstream Pictures and Boarside Productions Limited.

The Moon and The Sun will be distributed by Focus Features in the USA.
