Leonardo Da Vinci - Tom Riley

The various VOD platforms worldwide are aggressively seeking premium content in specific regions, particularly where the bandwidth allows. What the collective industry has seen escalating is an increasingly savvy audience that is acutely aware of the fast pace of technology and want to see premium content when, where and how they want to view it.
shomi, an SVOD company based in Canada, recently forged a multi-year content deal for their Canadian subscribers with Starz Digital Media, the global digital and on-demand licensing and content syndication arm of Starz. With a passion for entertainment and its promise to bring the best in popcorn and magic to subscribers, starting in November shomi will be the only place where Canadians can see a growing lineup of many A-list STARZ programs post-broadcast through an SVOD service. The deal provides shomi users with exclusive second-window access to select STARZ Original series that feed every entertainment lover's binge-watching needs: covering the chaotic world of Florence in Da Vinci's Demons to the intrigue-filled parlours of England's nobility in The White Queen.
The multi-year deal includes: Power, the gritty New York-based crime drama from Executive Producer Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson; Upcoming new scripted comedy series, Survivor's Remorse, from Executive Producers Tom Werner, Maverick Carter, LeBron James, Mike O'Malley, Paul Wachter and Victor Levin; Black Sails, the epic Pirate drama; Hit series Da Vinci's Demons from David S. Goyer; Emmy® and Golden Globe® award-nominated limited series, The White Queen, from best-selling author Philippa Gregory; and the stylish Magic City. In addition, kicking off the launch of shomi will be other STARZ Original series including the global hit Spartacus and the comedy Party Down. As part of the robust programming agreement the Emmy® Award-winning, kid-friendly animated series Dan Vs. from Starz's animation company, Film Roman, is also included.
Mara Winokur, SVP, Digital at Starz said: "We're pleased to be able to announce our significant new content partnership with shomi. The company has created a supreme subscription on demand service for consumers and we're thrilled that we will be able to bring the exclusive streaming rights to many of our STARZ Originals and provide access to a deep library of lots of other animated and other licensed STARZ content."
"Our partnership with Starz brings a phenomenal mix of immersive dramas and loveable comedies to our members," said Marni Shulman, Head of Content and Programming, shomi. "Every program in this deal offers premium content for our viewers that will keep them coming back for more."
shomi has enhanced all the bells and whistles the consumer now demands. The service will start this November to Rogers and Shaw customers at a suggested retail price of $8.99 per month. Canadians will be able to enjoy shomi online and on select tablets, mobile devices, Xbox 360, and set top boxes. Launching in beta first to Rogers and Shaw Internet or TV customers, enhanced features include trailers and factoids for movie titles to help customers make their selections, while a revolutionary user interface delivers a unique theatrical experience. The service offers the consumer the ability to add up to six profiles per account, delivering a solution for the connected home, as customers can watch on two devices and their set top boxes at the same time.
