(OTTO) Dutch Animation Short Selection For Oscars

(OTTO) Dutch Animation
(OTTO), directed by Job, Joris & Marieke, studio has been selected by an independent committee of Dutch film professionals for Oscar® submission in the Animated Short Film category. It is the second film by Job, Joris & Marieke to be submitted for consideration to the Academy. A Single Life received an Oscar® nomination in the Best Animated Short Film category (2015). (Otto) had its world premiere at the recent Toronto International Film Festival. The film tells the story of a woman who is unable to have children who steals the imaginary friend of a little girl, and keeps this a secret from her husband…
(Otto) was produced, directed, written and animated by Job, Joris & Marieke who consist of: Job Roggeveen (1979), Joris Oprins (1980) and Marieke Blaauw (1979), all graduates of the Design Academy in Eindhoven. In 2007 they founded the Job, Joris & Marieke studio where they have produced numerous corporate and commercial films, as well as a host of personal projects. Last year, they received international acclaim for their Oscar® nominated animated short A Single Life. Before that, they won various (international) prizes with their short film Mute (2013) and helped develop the animated TV-series The Tumblies (2012). The film was established under KORT!, a joint project of the NTR, Dutch Film Fund and the Media Fund, with support from the CoBO. The aim is to jointly stimulate the production of Dutch short films.

For The International Market At MipJunior

Beta's new label Kids & Family has a line-up of 14 shows, among them nine series, at MipJunior market. The BBC recently acquired the preschool-series Patchwork Pals (26x4'), heart warming stories on an animated blanket. The company's extended NRK-slate includes the new English language documentary Message in a Bottle (13x12') about a Norwegian family who moved to Tikopia, one of the world's most isolated community in the Pacific Ocean. Two German box office hits: Enid Blyton's adventurous Famous Five IV, heads the feature film section – the Famous IV time travel thousands of miles and thousands of years back in time to solve yet another nail biting mystery; and The Pasta Detectives, about two boys solving crimes in their Berlin neighbourhood, the first collaboration between Beta Cinema and Fox International Productions. To round out Beta's Kids and family offering is Estonia's most successful family entertainment movie, The Secret Society of Souptown, which depicts the story of 10-year-old smart and brave Mari, who with her three best friends forms a secret society to play scavenger hunt games her grandfather is inventing for them.

Continues Worldwide Cinema Roll Out

Studio100 Film International film sales company, a division of Studio 100 Media, rolled out the CGI feature film Blinky Bill The Movie across Europe and the Far East. During September the movie launched on screens in Poland, Bulgaria Australia, South Korea and Romania. Its October rollout includes Romania, Middle East, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic.
Commenting on the worldwide release, Patrick Elmendorff, Managing Director Studio 100 Film, said: "We are really pleased to have received such great interest from international distributors and look forward to seeing our mischievous, cheeky and adventurous hero leave his unique footprint in cinemas around the world. Blinky Bill The Movie is produced by Flying Bark Productions (Australia) in co-production with Assemblage (India) and Telegael Teoranta (Ireland) and in association with Screen Australia and Screen New South Wales. An all star cast voice the characters including Ryan Kwanten as Blinky Bill, Robin McLeavy as Blinky's best friend Nutsy, and Rufus Sewell as the treacherous feral cat Sir Claude. Starring alongside them are the voices of Toni Collette, Barry Humphries, David Wenham, Deborah Mailman, Richard Roxburgh and Barry Otto. The movie is based on the 1930's Australian book series Blinky Bill by Dorothy Wall and considered an iconic children's classic.
