Zodiak Rights Secures The King's
Speech Producers In First Look Deal

WWI Topgun
After the recent consolidation of its divisions under ZodiakMedia, Zodiak Rights, the groups international division, has signed a new first-look development deal with UK independent Bedlam Productions, producers of Oscar winner The King's Speech. The deal covers feature films and its factual slate. Further securing first look options with more talent, the company also entered into agreement with StoryVault Films and has both companies' programming available to international buyers at MIPTV.

Andreas Lemos, VP Acquisitions, Zodiak Rights London said: "We are delighted to bring indies of Bedlam and StoryVault's credentials and production talent to the Zodiak Rights stable. Their programming is a natural fit with our catalogue and will be a great addition to the 500 new hours we are taking to MIPTV."

"We are delighted to have Zodiak Rights representing our Factual projects for international sales," said Simon Breen, Creative Director, Bedlam Productions. "We are convinced this is going to be a great relationship and look forward to many years of successful and rewarding collaboration across many exciting projects."

David Buckley, Director of StoryVault Films, commented: "We are really excited Zodiak Rights will be representing the StoryVault Films portfolio for international and secondary sales. They have a terrific track record and we look forward to our relationship being a runaway hit."

The strong creative talent at the helm of Bedlam Productions in the form of Creative Director, Simon Breen, RTS nominated Simon Egan and Academy Award-winning producer Gareth Unwin, currently have a wide range of feature films and documentaries in production. Bedlam's slate includes upcoming feature film Zaytoun starring Stephen Dorff and documentary RMS Titanic:Case Closed (1x90') for National Geographic International channels and the Smithsonian channel. Titanic: Case Closed explores the real reasons behind the sinking and lack of rescue of the infamous ship.

The first programs to come under the deal on the Bedlam Productions portfolio are WWI Top Gun Revealed and The King's Speech Revealed. Bedlam Productions WWI Top Gun Revealed (1 x 60' Five/The History Channel UK) has just launched in the UK and charts the technological evolution of the first air force with exclusive access to The Vintage Aviators, a unique fleet of replica aircraft. The King's Speech Revealed (1 x 60' Five) is the true story of King George VI's speech therapist Lionel Logue.

StoryVault Films was formed in 2010 by former head of ITV and MD of Liberty Bell Stuart Prebble in partnership with the MD of Scream Films Southan Morris, executive producer of Willie's Wonky Chocolate Factory, Sam Richards, and former head of production at Liberty Bell, David Buckley. Earlier this year Sky's former head of factual entertainment Mark Sammon joined StoryVault's Board of Directors and Bafta-winning film-maker and former editor of BBC strand Inside Story Olivia Lichtenstein also joined the indie as one of the Directors.

StoryVault specializes in factual and factual-entertainment and drama-documentary formats. On the StoryVault slate include Objects of Desire (6 x 60' Sky Arts), presented by Mariella Frostrup, which takes viewers on a journey of the world's most impressive and beautiful objects such as John Makepeace's iconic furniture. Bulk Buy Britain (1 x 60' Channel 4) is a pilot which follows London businessman Justin Preston as he encourages communities to negotiate discounts on a wide range of products. The Book Show (series 6 36 x 60', series 7 26 x 60'), the UK's longest-running program devoted entirely to literature, attracts A-list authors and well-known guests from all over the world.

Bedlam Productions and StoryVault Films join a growing stable of first-look producers represented by Zodiak Rights including Big Fat Gypsy Wedding Producer Firecracker Films and The Food Hospital's production company betty. Zodiak Rights owns the distribution rights for both the format and finished shows to Bedlam Productions factual programming and StoryVault Films productions.
