Nelson Mandela: From A Remote Village In
South Africa To The Nobel Prize In Norway

Nelson Mandela

Mandela: In Freedom's Name directed by Joel Calmettes is available in selected territories from Lagardere Entertainment Rights during MIPDOC and MIPTV.
Mandela retired at the age of 89 from his official duties and has devoted himself to the fight against AIDS. Mandela: In Freedom's Name allows us to relish the perspective of the man, and the heroic dimensions of his life – an improbable life, and an exceptional political life in deep contrast to a personal life dotted with tragedy and failure. From his humble beginnings in a remote Transkei village to the Nobel Prize ceremony in Oslo, Norway, he has become known as one of the wisest and most acclaimed personalities on the global stage.
The documentary examines the fascinating contradictions of a life dedicated to a single higher purpose, and explores his life in the context of a country that is little known and poorly understood, a continent going through the painful and bloody upheaval of decolonization.
Mandela: In Freedom's Name has already aired in: Japan, Germany, Middle-East, Deutschland, Belgium, Spain, Denmark, Estonia, National Geographic Latin America, Portugal, Switzerland, Russia, Slovenia, Poland, Kurdistan, Mexico, Scandinavia.
