Road To Revolution & What Does Independence
Liberty and Fraternity Means To Those
Experiencing Daily Conflict In War Torn Regions
Road To Revolution

Road to Revolution, a documentary focused on the revolution that affects the Middle East and Maghreb countries known as the Arab Spring, is available at MIPDoc and MIP TV to international buyers for worldwide licensing and distribution.

Road to Revolution is the latest transmedia project from beActive, and the first foray into making a documentary feature from the multi-award winning multiplatform production studio company.

beActive's Managing Director and Writer/Producer Nuno Bernardo commented: "As a new wave of revolutions sweeps the Arab world, Road To Revolution aims to show a different point of view from that presented by TV and online news". He added: "It explores how and why revolutions take place, what changed and what remains. It features interviews with the younger generation about their role in the revolution and hopes and expectations for the future. The series demonstrates beActive's commitment to producing groundbreaking multiplatform factual content."

The feature length documentary and two part TV version (52x2) is the culmination of a long journey through the Middle East and Maghreb -A different view of the Arab Spring- a transmedia project that tells the story of the journey through various platforms, including a book, a mobile app, an extensive online presence.

The book chronicles, through text and photography, the episodes of the trip (putting them in historical and cultural context) and the outcome is a mix between a pure travel book, a novel, and an academic essay on the Arab world.

With the ongoing outbreaks of violence that are widespread in the region, particularly in Egypt and Syria, the documentary can be seen as timeless and relevant, affording audiences around the world the opportunity to understand (through stories told in the first person) a vision of everyday life for the people in the region and discover for those caught up in the conflict what independence, liberty and fraternity means.

After its successful theatrical launch in Portugal in early February, beActive launches the TV version at MIPDoc and MIPTV.

Road to Revolution is produced by beActive Entertainment, and marks Dânia Lucas' feature directorial debut.
