The Eagerly Awaited First-Look Of Beta Film's Babylon Berlin Unfolds At MIPDrama Screenings
Beta Film pulls back the red curtain for Babylon Berlin, presenting first-look
excerpts of the extraordinary event series by Tom Tykwer, Henk Handloegten
and Achim von Borries. The writer/director trio will introduce the show during
the MIPDrama Screenings with a 20 minute glimpse that is currently in
post-production and has been sold to numerous territories throughout
the world. Babylon Berlin, 16 episodes and a 40 million Euro budget, will
premiere on Sky Germany this coming fall, all of Europe including UK, as
well as overseas and German Free TV ARD to follow. Berlin in the Roaring
Twenties is a metropolis for those with talent and ambition. But beneath
the glittering surface, the impoverished masses strive for a better life. It is a
time for organized crime and political extremism with old militaristic elites
not yet abolished while an even more dreadful monster starts flexing its muscles.
The show follows a police officer investigating with his own agenda in the capital.
Babylon Berlin is produced by X Filme Creative Pool, ARD Degeto, Sky and Beta Film.

Zodiak Kids Distribution Deal For
Sammy & Co From StudioCanal
Zodiak Kids has reached an agreement with STUDIOCANAL to take on the distribution rights for aquatic action and adventure series Sammy & Co and launches the brand new series two at MIPTV.
Following the success of feature films A Turtle’s Tale: Sammy’s Adventures, and Sammy’s Great Escape, both produced by STUDIOCANAL’s partner nWave animation studio, this 3D CGI animation for pre-schoolers explores an underwater world filled with action and humor. Zodiak Kids has acquired both Series 1 (52 x 11’), and newly commissioned Series 2 also 52 x 11’ for M6. Julia Rowlands, VP of Sales, Acquisitions & Co-Productions said: “We are delighted to add Sammy & Co to our catalogue of pre-school programming - we think this series has strong international appeal. The show teaches children universal values through an array of humorous characters and action packed adventures in the underwater world.” Katrina Neylon, EVP Sales and Marketing STUDIOCANAL, said:"We are thrilled to partner with Zodiak Kids on one of our most iconic family brands. Since we first released Sammy, STUDIOCANAL’s first animated 3D feature film, the franchise has grown considerably and we could not have wished for a better partner to look after our favourite Turtle and his friends."
