Never Before Seen Outside Of Russia The Classic
Bolshoi Ballet Is Now Available For A Global
Audience -Tony Watts Named The Exclusive
Agent For The Digitally Restored Events
The Classic Bolshoi Collection
The Bolshoi Ballet founded in 1776 did not begin to attract the attention it now holds in the ballet world until Moscow became the capital of the Soviet Union in 1918. The company became the symbol of excellence in the classical tradition of Soviet-era Russia, and the company gained a nearly mythical reputation in the West through a series of tours organized by the great 20th century impresario Sol Hurok.
For many, the exquisite art of the Ballet for generations has been seen as the preserve of the wealthy and privileged. Now through worldwide distribution by RussiaTeleRadio Worldwide Limited, the world and a generation of aficionados and new enthusiasts of the art form can enjoy the digitally restored stage productions.
Anthony Gould – Executive Chairman of RussiaTeleRadio Worldwide, which is the licensed company holding the worldwide rights to The Classic Bolshoi Collection with access to the Russian State Archive that contains exclusive materials including animation, documentary footage and the collection of unique Bolshoi Ballets, commented: "These Bolshoi Ballet performances – filmed at the height of their power – have only been seen by audiences in Russia. We at RussiaTeleRadio Worldwide have selected the cream of these great ballets from the 70s, 80s and 90s and lovingly restored them to stunning high definition versions, to be made available now to the world for the first time."
Tony Watts, appointed the Exclusive worldwide agent for the selected digitally restored ballets said: "The Classic Bolshoi Collection is top quality entertainment with appeal across the board in many countries. The exciting aspect is that it will be the first time these great artists have been exposed internationally. Together with RussiaTeleRadio, I have developed a release strategy for world sales through a series of windows, beginning with the theatrical exposure in Arts and Dance Festivals; then digital cinema releases in selected territories; followed by Blu Ray, DVD and specialist Pay TV channels.
The titles include: Swan Lake, 1976; Chopiniana, 1977; The Nutcracker, 1978; Don Quixote, 1978; Spartacus, 1979; Adam and Eve, 1982; Ivan the Terrible, 1986; Romeo and Juliet, 1990; Giselle, 1991; La Sylphide, 1992. Rights include: theatrical, digital, audio, Pay TV, VOD, satellite, Free TV, Blu Ray.
Tony Watts is at MIPCOM market to meet with international buyers and can be reached at the Gold Buyers Club.
